Obituary of Walter Sullivan Warren
Warren, Walter Sullivan 99 East Quoddy passed away peacefully Tuesday,January 8, 2019 in Eastern Shore Memorial Hospital, Sheet Harbour. Born in the family home in East Quoddy, Februray 4, 1919, he was the son of the late Walter and Katherine (Fahie) Warren. Walter had been looking forward to becoming a centenarian in the coming weeks. He was a lobster fisherman in his early years and later became a well known lobster buyer along the Eastern Shore. He worked a team of oxen in the woods and enjoyed attending the county exhibitions. He was always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in the community. He was a faithful member of St. Michael’s Roman Catholic church and was caretaker there for many years, which included lighting the fire and digging graves. He very much enjoyed hunting and trapping and selling the furs. He is survived by niece Patricia Lowes, nephews George and Roger Guy. Predeceased by sister Loretta Guy and brother Joseph. Visitation will be held Friday, 2-4 and 7-9, prayers at 7:30 all at D.S. Crowell & Son Funeral Home, 22558 Hwy 7, Sheet Harbour. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, January 12, 2019 at 11 a.m. in St. Peter’s Roman Catholic church, Sheet Harbour, Fr. Fabian officiating. Interment will follow at St. Michael’s Catholic Cemetery, East Quoddy. Reception at S.R. Balcom community center, Port Dufferin. Our sincere thanks to the staff of ESMH and all of Walter’s faithful friends who took such good care of him. My father the late Duncan S. Crowell purchased the business on August 31, 1970 from the late Parker Hamilton. Dad named it Eastern Memorial Funeral Home until a few years later when he changed the name to DS Crowell Funeral Home.
