Obituary of Dorothy McKenna

Age 72, Lake Charlotte, died Sunday, April 10, 2022 in Twin Oaks Memorial Hospital, Musquodoboit Harbour. Born in Lake Charlotte November 10, 1949 she was a daughter of the late Albert and Beatrice (Arnold) McKenna. Dorothy worked for Sears for several years, then as a telephone operator in her house in Lake Charlotte. She then was employed at the Hardware Store at Webber’s Store for several years, followed by Manager at the Enviro Depot in Lake Charlotte. Dorothy enjoyed her phone calls with family and friends, knitting, embroidering, craft sales and baking her coconut balls and peanut butter balls at Christmas. Survived by her daughter, Jane; several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by infant sisters, Jerine Darlene and Donna Marie McKenna; brothers, Ronald and Lee; partner, Tom Hustins. Graveside committal service will be held, 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 20th in Union Church Cemetery, Lake Charlotte, Rev. Andrew Mortimer officiating. Family flowers only. Donations may be made to Twin Oaks Memorial Hospital in Dorothy’s memory. A special thanks to Roy and June, Nancy and Carl for their help and support over the last few years in getting Dorothy to groceries and appointments. Also the home care workers, especially Ashley. Would like to thank her handyman Grant for all his home repairs. Also thanks to the nurses and staff at Twin Oaks and Dartmouth General.
