Janet, Peter & families, our condolences are sent to your loved ones in the loss of your Dad. Ross served the residents of Westphal and Cole Harbour as a firefighter and taking over the leadership of fire chief. A great family man and community leader. The firefighting community of Westphal and Cole Harbour reaped the benefits for many years of the guidance given by your Dad when the fire department was being organized. Ross was the first person hired for the fire department in about 1968. Later in July 15, 1970 3 additional firefighters were hired. I was one of those people and Ross was our fire chief, showing us how to perform the proper firefighting skills. Murray Elliott- Westphal -Cole Harbour Firefighters Association

Very sorry to hear of Ross's passing. We really enjoyed Ross’s visits over the years as well as dropping in on him. It has been almost 20 years since we first met Ross and Mary after buying his brother Gerald's property on Atkins Point Road. He was a good neighbour and we will miss him.

I remember your dad being a tease and joking whenever Earl was around. I also remember him fondly calling you Mabel Janet! There was a time when two young teenage girls didn’t show up outside the Metro Centre after a concert for pick up as we got backstage....I remember he called my dad and I thought you and I were both doomed but your dad was awesome about it. Understandably not happy but was probably just happy he found us. Many fond memories of Harrigan Cove, the place he loved! May the many memories of your dad bring you much laughter and warmth through the coming years. I informed my dad of his passing and he was very sad to hear this and wanted me to let you know that “Ross was a fine man indeed and I’m very sorry to hear this!”

Janet, Peter and families,
So very sorry for the loss of Uncle Ross. He was such a tease at times (will never forget those vicious flying rabbits, right Janet?) I still laugh remembering that. He was always laughing and giving us a hard time, but all in fun. I miss those days when we were young and having a great time in Harrigan with family. Those were the days. Remember the good times, and let's hope him and Dad aren't raising too much trouble together again...or maybe we should hope that they are!

Dear Family,
Very sorry to learn of Ross's passing. He was a wonderful person. I had stopped by briefly when passing through Harrigan this past August, but he was not at home. I think the last time was a couple of years ago in Sheet Harbour having fish n chips, when I was visiting with my mother (Jean) before she passed in 2019. She thought the world of him.
I first met Ross as a child back in the 1970s when visiting my relatives, his old neighbours Jim and Ella Atkins.
Again, very sorry to hear.
Sincere condolences. May friends and family provide you comfort during this difficult time.
