Obituary of Victoria Bernice Crowell

Age 81, of St. Croix, formerly of Lochaber Mines, passed away peacefully Tuesday, March 26, 2019 in Hants Community Hospital, Windsor with her loving family by her side. Born August 10, 1937 in Lochaber Mines she was a daughter of the late Austin and Carrie (MacDonald) Frosst. In her earlier years Vickie worked as a waitress at Sunset Camps, serving the American hunters and anglers as they would arrive for their trips. After graduating high school she became a school teacher and taught at the one room school house in Lochaber Mines. Later on she was the cook at Sheet Harbour Motel and was a personal care worker at D.M.N.H. Vickie was very involved with St. James United Church, Lochaber Mines as a church elder, choir director and also taught Sunday school for many years. She was instrumental in purchasing the old school house in Lochaber Mines for a church hall, where she was very active in organizing variety shows, Christmas plays, dances, suppers and other fundraisers. She was the C.G.I.T. leader and a founding member and leader of the Lochfalls 4-H club, member of the Eastern Star. Vickie dedicated her life to helping others. She and her husband helped raise three of her siblings after the death of her parents and gave a home and unconditional love to many foster children and anyone who was in need, 80 plus children and adults over the years. After the death of her husband she moved to St. Croix and worked at the Victoria Park Guest House as a Personal Care worker until her retirement. At the age of 62 she began her studies at the Atlantic School of Theology and Ministry after which time she practiced as a Lay Minister in St. Croix, Avondale, Walton, Cheverie, and Vaughan. She enjoyed her weekly knitting club at the United Church in St. Croix. Survived by son, Artie (Gaye) Crowell, Ardoise; daughters, Cindy (Sidney Craig), Saint John, N.B.; Pam, St. Croix; grandchildren, Julie (Gregg), Christopher, Jared; great-grandchildren, Tayvie, Wyatt, Jayde, Grayson, Charlee, Jared Jr., Damon and Dante; four stepgreat- grandchildren; sisters, Sylvia (John) Monk, Evelyn Husbands, Darlene Frosst, Sigrid Frosst (Gerry Myatt); many nieces and nephews and the people that shared her home and became her extended family. Predeceased by husband, Chadwick; sisters, Shirley McKay, Emma Parks, Bonnie Hutka, Lorraine in infancy; brothers, John and Joe; grandsons, Justin Crowell and Brian Malay Jr. Her laughter and smile warmed many hearts around her. Her welcoming home in St. Croix was known to all as "Victoria's Vista", where she continued her life's work of helping others. Funeral Services will be held March 30th at 2 p.m. in the United Church, St. Croix and April 1st at 2 p.m. in St. James United Church in Lochaber Mines, Rev. Kevin Cox officiating.
