Obituary of Walter Dennis Hawes

Please share a memory of Walter to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Hawes, Walter Dennis – 64, Eastville, Upper Stewiacke, passed away on March 13, 2019 at his home with his beloved animals.

Born in Middle Musquodoboit, December 21, 1954, he was a son of the late Hugh and Ethel (Fisher) Hawes. Much of Walter’s life was spent working in the woods, in his later days he could be found puttering and adventuring around the place he loved most of all, while putting his 9 lives to the test. Behind the rough and tough exterior and stubbornness, was a kind heart who loved and cared deeply for his family, friends and many of life’s creatures, along with all of his animals who’ve passed through his life. He was willing to help anyone that came along and didn’t mind sharing a story or two. He appreciated the joys, silly moments and times of laughter that life had to offer. He is survived by daughters, Bonita Graham, Amber MacLean-Hawes; sisters, Barbara (Robert) MacGillvary, Bonita Ford, Thelma Wright, Mary Lou (Ross) MacKenzie, Dorothy, Violet, Alanna (Jim) MacNaughton; brothers, Gregory, Victor, Francis; grandchildren; Aurora Jade, twins Orion Nicholas and Rhiannon Star. He was predeceased by brothers Leo, Cyril and Stephen.

Cremation has taken place a graveside service and burial will be held Saturday May 11, 2019 at 2:00p.m. in Eastville Cemetery, Upper Stewiacke, Deacon Bernie Coffin officiating. Memorial donations may be made to Nova Scotia SPCA or the Heart & Stoke Foundation.

May the radio and his affinity for Coronation Street continue to play in his memory as he smiles down, knowing he will be missed. Online condolences may be directed to www.crowellsfuneralhome.ca
