Webber (Horne) Shirley, M. -Dartmouth

The family of Shirley Webber sadly announces her passing on November 9, 2018 at the age of 73 in Bissett Court, Dartmouth where she resided for the last seven and a half years. Born in Halifax on April 14, 1945 to the late Roy P. and Estelle M. (Bunny) Horne. Shirley attended St. Joseph's, Oxford, St.Patrick's High and Halifax County Vocational School. She and Wayne met in 1961 and married in 1965. They raised 3 sons, Hall, Surrey, BC; Bobby (Elan), Herring Cove and David, Elsmdale. Shirley worked for 17 years at BIO in Dartmouth, most of the time as Records Manager. After leaving BIO, she began studies at Mount Saint Vincent University at the age of 45, until she was diagnosed with MS which she courageously battled for almost 19 years.  Shirley was a loving wife and mother, grandmother, mother-in-law and friend. While living in Enfield for over 20 years, when the boys were young, Shirley could be found in rinks 5 nights a week and every weekend. Even through Shirley worked, she took great interest in her son's activities and that of their friends. Shirley is survived by her husband Wayne, her sons Hall, Bobby (Elan) and David; granddaughter Hannah, Elmsdale, grandsons Keelan and MacKenzie, Surrey, BC and her faithful canine companion Lady, her sister Joan Horne (David Gardner) Halifax, brothers Bernard(Mary, deceased), Maine; Kenny (Nova Lee), Dartmouth and Danny, Halifax as well as her nieces and nephews. Shirley was predeceased by her mother, father and sister Wendy Leavitt, mother and father-in-law Hall and Mary Webber, sister-in-law Greta Webber and Judy Casey. Cremation has taken place and in keeping with Shirley's wishes, there will be no visitation. A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 am Thursday, November 15th at St. Vincent de Paul Parish, Dartmouth NS with Father Dariusz Misiolek officiating. A reception will follow in the Church Hall. No flowers please, however donations in Shirley's name to the MS Society or SPCA are welcome. Arrangements are under the direction of DS Crowell and Sons Funeral Home Ltd., Sheet Harbour. The family would like to thank the staff of Bissett Court for their loving and gentle care of Shirley over the last seven and a half years.
