Dear Bernie, Lynn, Bernard and families,
I am so deeply saddened for your loss. I know Judy will be remembered by many for her kind, friendly, gracious, compassionate, supportive, and helpful ways.
I am happy and thankful to say I have many memories of her kindness and compassion, especially when she welcomed myself and my daughter Tara into her family, as well as the whole Smiley Clan ( and believe me this is a huge, loving family). Judy took us under her wing and helped both Tara and I to become a member of this family that she was already such a monumental part of,”and believe me, that she was”. Judy was and will be loved by all of us.
I have many memories of hours spent with Judy having coffee ( and of course some goodies she whipped up that day), while sharing funny, sincere, and supportive conversations; while helping her to tend to the Post Office (introducing me to all the local folks); tagging along while helping her in assisting others in need of her aid ( again introducing me to many of her friends, family, neighbours, and acquaintances). I am so honoured and happy to say Judy was a huge part of my life and for that I will always be thankful.
I pray that each of you can find peace and comfort in your cherished memories, and all the love of family and friends that surrounds you. My heartfelt condolences to you and all your families. Hugs, Carol and Tara

So sorry for your loss. Judy was one of a kind. She will be missed by so many. When Carl and I got married we asked Judy to marry us. Just us , her and 2 witnesses. She said yes of course but I love you both and it would make me so happy would have a ceremony with family and friends, so we did It was a beautiful day and Judy made it perfect. She said she was so happy to do this for us because she loved us and I said we wouldn't have anyone else because we love you too. An amazing, beautiful woman Judy was. Sending you all my thoughts and prayers.

My sincere condolences on Judy’s passing. I served on Halifax County Council with Councillor Smiley and held her and her opinions in high regard. To me she was a “sounding board” and a colleague whom I always wanted to hear from on the issues before us. She was always calm and “classy”.

My condolences on Judy’s passing. Judy was one of my favourite people on the eastern shore. Judy lit up a room with that beautiful smile and personality. Her warmth and friendliness was very real to everyone. Her accomplishments and achievements are second to her wonderful marriage and being a mother, grandmother, sibling and friend. Judy, the eastern shore were so fortunate to have you in their corner all these years. Keep your fond and happier memories close to your hearts.
Kind Thoughts:

Judy was such a great person in so many ways. To list everything she made possible for our small communities would take forever. One thing that she did was help me set up the Rainbow Foodbank in the GHMS, that to this day is used very much and most appreciated. She will truly be missed in so many ways. Sending heart warm wishes and prayers to her family and friends.
