McDermott, Kenneth Edward- 77, Mushaboom passed away Monday October 28, 2024 in the QEII Health Sciences Center VG Site. Born in Springhill N.S. December 30, 1946 he was a son of the late Murray & Ruby (Morris) McDermott. Kenny worked with the Canadian Coast Guard as an oiler, when he left the Coast Guard he was employed as a fisherman for several years. He was the Fire Chief of the Mushaboom Fire Department for several years and was a member of Eureka Lodge #42. Kenny loved to drive his John Deere tractor, also to build lawns, he had trails to patches of lawn in his backyard which he called the back 40. Kenny had an infectious laugh, loved his corvettes, to tell jokes and stories, always making people laugh. Survived by his wife Judy, brother Richard (Lynn), nieces Emily and Lena. Special thanks to Shaun, Jacquie, Caden, Kirstin, Kayla Boutilier and to Wanda and Kenny Boutilier and special thank you to Steve and Bobbie Mildenberger for all that you did, and many thanks to all his friends and neighbours for all their help. My father the late Duncan S. Crowell purchased the business on August 31, 1970 from the late Parker Hamilton. Dad named it Eastern Memorial Funeral Home until a few years later when he changed the name to DS Crowell Funeral Home.
