Obituary of Margaret Eliza Jewers

Jewers, Margaret Eliza “Nanny Margie”- 82, Murray Siding and formerly Ecum Secum died Thursday October 24, 2024 at the QEII Infirmary Site, Halifax. Born in New Chester February 15, 1942 she was a daughter of the late Percy & Eliza Smith. She was employed at the Brighthouse, she was an avid baker, knitter, quilter, bingo player and loved scratch tickets. Margaret was active in the Anglican church, over the years she was the secretary, treasurer and church warden. She prepared mission to seafarers Christmas boxes for 30 plus years. Margaret ran Bingo at the Ecum Secum Fire Hall for numerous years. She was a family women, the glue that held the family together. She loved her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, plus everyone else’s. Survived by children; Martha (Lewis), Robert (Kathy), Lois (Noel), Raymond (Stacy), Jody (Susie), grandchildren; Jon (Kathy), Luke (Brianna), Ryan (Sarah), Tiffany, Keegan, Alannah, Garet, Emily, Maxden, Steven, Jayden, Julianna (David), Thomas, Annalise, Rory, great grandchildren; Brody, Ethan, Rylee, Dahlia, Lyla, Hudson, Finley and Landon, sister, Linda (Ross), sisters in-law; Rhodessa and Barbara, special niece Nancy, special nephew Barry. Predeceased by husband Burnell Sr., son Burnell Jr., brothers; Burney, Chester, Tom, sisters; Evelyn, Beulah, Agnes, Irene, fur baby Maggie and other members of the Jewers & Smith families. Visitation will be held Monday October 28 from 11am -1:45pm in Ecum Secum Chapel. Funeral Service will be held following the visitation at 2pm in St. Pauls Anglican Church, Mitchell Bay, Rev. Gary Barr officiating, burial in the church cemetery. Reception to follow in the Ecum Secum Fire Hall. Donations may be made to the Ecum Secum Fire Department or Souls Harbour. The family would like to thank the paramedics, transport team, doctors and nurses at Truro Emergency, IMCU, ICU, QEII IMC and ICU. Special thanks to nurses Kenza and Ofelia. My father the late Duncan S. Crowell purchased the business on August 31, 1970 from the late Parker Hamilton. Dad named it Eastern Memorial Funeral Home until a few years later when he changed the name to DS Crowell Funeral Home.
