Cooper, Jean Carole- 84, Murphy Cove died peacefully Saturday October 19, 2024 at Twin Oaks Memorial Hospital in Musquodoboit Harbour with her children by her side. Born in Murphy Cove July 27, 1940 she was a daughter of the late George & Elvona (Edwards) Leslie. Jean was the last surviving member of her immediate family. In her earlier years she worked in Halifax for Harris & Roome then with White Cross Pharmacy and was MTT switchboard operator in Popes Harbour, personal care worker and homemaker and was an exceptional mother. Jean enjoyed family events and having close friends and family around. She was an amazing cook and enjoyed baking, bingo and card game . She was an avid Toronto Blue Jays fan and loved tagging along with her son and daughter. Jean adored her extended family and cherished all the family events. She enjoyed her time spent with her dear friends Angus & Marion MacAskill and family and with Wayne & Theresa “Sis” Boutilier. Jean was so fortunate and thankful for her caring and amazing neighbours. She was also grateful for her homecare worker Tracy. Jean is survived by her loving and dedicated children John, Murphy Cove/Dartmouth, Jackie (Roger “Joe” Harmon), Dartmouth, fur grand baby Milo, and many nieces and nephews that were near and dear to her heart. She was predeceased by husband Donald, siblings; Audrey MacKinnon (Pat), Donald (Audrey) Leslie, June (Donald) Matthews, George (Geraldine), Virginia in infancy. Cremation has taken place. At Jeans request there will be no visitation or funeral. A private family burial will be held at a later date in St. Peters Church Cemetery, Murphy Cove. The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and the entire staff of Twin Oaks Memorial Hospital for their compassionate care shown to Jean and her children. My father the late Duncan S. Crowell purchased the business on August 31, 1970 from the late Parker Hamilton. Dad named it Eastern Memorial Funeral Home until a few years later when he changed the name to DS Crowell Funeral Home.
