Obituary of John Archibald Borgal

It is with deep sadness that we the family announce the passing of our dear father, grandfather, brother (in-law), uncle and friend on October 14, 2024 at the Harbourview Lodge Nursing Home in Sheet Harbour, N. S. where he resided for the past three years. He was born on June 20, 1933 to the late Maurice and Annie (Wilcox) Borgal of Spry Bay, N. S. He was a lobster fisherman and carpenter's helper during his working life until 2007, he also worked at Scott Paper Mill and was a stevedore in Halifax. Always willing to lend a helping hand especially to his predeceased wife Helen in her gardens. Survived by daughters Bliss (Stuart deceased) Hawes, Jocelyn Colwell (Ed Plomp), grandson Chauncey Hawes (Candace Broussard), granddaughters Candice Colwell (Aaron Andreino), Dawn (Travis) Crane, great-granddaughters Sophie and Adalyn Hawes, Hailey and Kylie Crane, sisters June Clattenburg, Audrey Verge, and Marjorie Barkhouse, sister-in-law Merridae Levy, brother-in-law Murray (Linda) Munroe, many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by loving wife Helen (Levy) 2014, mother and father-in-law Dorothy and Harvey Levy, grandson Faron Hawes 1996, sister-in-law Marilyn Munroe, brother-in-laws Harry Verge, Glen Clattenburg and Reginald Barkhouse. He was a member of the St. Margaret's Anglican Church, Sober Island, N. S. Visitation 11am-12;30 pm Friday October 18, 2024 at the D. S. Crowell & Son Funeral Home, 22558 Hwy 7, Sheet Harbour, N. S. followed by Funeral service held at 1pm in St. Margaret's Anglican Church, Short Cut Rd., Sober Island, N. S. , Rev Dr. Mike Foley officiating . Burial to follow in church cemetery. Reception to follow at Royal Canadian Legion Hall, Branch #58, 23566 Hwy 7, Watt Section, N. S. Special thanks to all Harbourview Lodge staff for their wonderful care towards Jack and D. S. Crowell and Son Funeral Home for their professionalism and direction to the family. Donations may be made St. Margaret's Anglican Church, Harbourview Lodge Nursing Home or IWK Hospital.

who we are:
My father the late Duncan S. Crowell purchased the business on August 31, 1970 from the late Parker Hamilton. Dad named it Eastern Memorial Funeral Home until a few years later when he changed the name to DS Crowell Funeral Home.
