Jewers, Oswald Lester “Ossie”- 84 Ecum Secum died Sunday September 15, 2024 in St. Martha’s Hospital, Antigonish. Born in Ecum Secum to the late Heath and Marjorie (Myers) Jewers. Ossie was a fisherman from a young age. Fishing along side his father for many years. On the off season he was a longshoreman with ILA local 269. He also mastered the art of smoking fish, especially mackerel and salmon and became very good at it. He could also be found standing on the shoreline or wharf with rod in hand throwing out a few casts. Gardening was a hobby that he took up later in life and really enjoyed. Dad loved to socialize and it didn’t matter how far he would have to travel for a good dance or jamboree. This allowed him to forge many lasting friendships.
He is survived by his children Lonnie (Marguerite) Jewers , Port Dufferin and Gina (Harold) Warren, Lower Sackville. Grandchildren or as he would call them”His little hunnies”- Karly(Ryan) Ivany, Allie (Travis) Burry, Mitchell Jewers, Kara (Jack) Warren, Anna (Eric) MacDonald and Jillian Jewers. Great grandchildren- Wesley, Autumn, Amelia Burry and Cade Ivany. His sister Edna.
He was predeceased by his daughter Kimberley. Siblings Beulah, Helen, Edmond, Murray, Patrick, Eleanor, Margaret and Beatrice in infancy.
Visitation will take place on Saturday October 26 ,2024 from 1:00- 1:45 in Ecum Secum Chapel. Service will follow at 2pm St. Paul’s Anglican Church , Mitchell Bay.

My father the late Duncan S. Crowell purchased the business on August 31, 1970 from the late Parker Hamilton. Dad named it Eastern Memorial Funeral Home until a few years later when he changed the name to DS Crowell Funeral Home.
