Duncan was a pillar of the Tangier community and always happy to help a neighbour in need. He was kind and helpful, whether that was assisting with landscaping work, helping me haul my car out the ditch, or teaching me to clean a fish. A man who would give you the shirt off his back (if he was wearing one!). I'll miss seeing him on the water with Annie by his side and I'll miss his optimism and cheer. Rest easy, friend.

I will remember Duncan as a great neighbour who was always willing to lend a helping hand. I learned a lot from him over the years. I was always impressed how he supported his mother Shirley who lives near. Duncan didn't have much patience for computers and "smart" phones. He once told me he thought he was meant to be born a hundred years earlier when hunting and fishing was better. I will miss Duncan and his wry humour.

Duncan was a man amongst men. He knew not of fear. He was up for any adventure at anytime. I first met Duncan in the fall of 1974 when we both entered the welding program at Dartmouth Regional Vocational School. We had many fine adventures over the next 2 years. Both of us then entered apprenticeships with Canadian National Railway in Halifax and Moncton. There we met many great men that became good friends. We were well educated mechanics, second to none. We slowly drifted apart over time until government cut backs ended VIA. I ended up moving to Fort McMurray, Alberta. Not a day goes by that I don't think of the good times I had with Duncan. My deepest condolences from Andrew Coakley and family.

Duncan I have known you since I was a little girl, you were more than a brother in-law, you were more like a brother to us. We have so many memories that we will cherish each and everyone of them. These pictures were taken at your retirement party, another memory I will cherish. You will always be loved and missed.
