John Whitman posted a condolence

Dear Bonnie, Marlene and Donna and Scott and other family members I know less well:
Sorry to hear of Clair's passing. I looked up to him as my big cousin. I remember Doris and Anderson well. I have many fond memories of Anderson whom I liked to visit in the old house. He always treated us kids from his store or truck. Lots of story telling in the old kitchen. He told me of how Clair was respected as "the strongest man on the Eastern Shore" at that time. Great to be young then. Clair was always pleasant to talk to and visit. I looked up to him as a salmon fisher. I remember how Doris was kind and a gentle soul. Mom ( Emily ) loved her dearly as did Jackie , dad.
In many ways Port Dufferin is still the only place I call home.
Please accept condolences from Helen and I here in Ottawa.

Dear Bonnie, Scott and Michelle:
I used to work in Dad's store in Port Dufferin in the summer and what made it more enjoyable was seeing all the Port Dufferin kids and getting to know them. Clair was one of them. Thinking of you and God Bless, Sincerely, Sharon (Gammon) Elliott
