Gault, Martena Margaret- It is with great sadness we announce the peaceful passing of our mother Martena (Tena) at the age of 91 years on October 17, 2018 in Eastern Shore Memorial Hospital, Sheet Harbour. Tena was born in Marinette, Halifax Co. on September 4, 1927 she was the daughter of the late Lawrence and Pearl (O’Leary) Cruickshank. She lived her whole life in Sheet Harbour. Throughout her life she maintained a strong personal faith in God which began at her childhood a faith that guided and inspired her and gave her strength and courage to persevere through many difficult challenges she faced in her lifetime. A devoted member of St. Peters Roman Catholic Church all her life and a member of the Catholic Womens League for 56 years. Two of Tena’s hobbies were making fudge and her lemon pies for her grandchildren. She loved to read and complete the weekly lexicon in the Chronicle Herald, sew and watch EWTN on TV. She is survived by three children Margaret Ann Henderson (Stewart Cameron), Janet Elizabeth Spears (David) and son John Charles (Darlene), six grandchildren; Hilary (Stacey) Lord, Emily (Rob) Turner, Katrina (Bruce) MacNutt, Matthew (Stephanie) Spears, Nicole (Craig) Shaw, Murray (Ashley), 12 great grandchildren; Samantha, Jessy, Charlotte, Laim, Breyen, Lyla, Adam, Charlie, Michael, Emma, Russell, two sisters Clare Adams and Rose Comeau (Gustave). Other then her parents she is predeceased by her husband Charles (1998), two sisters Kathleen Ferguson and sister Anna Lawrence sister of charity. Six brothers Harold, John, Laurie, Gerald, Warren and Raymond, one great grandson her angel David in infancy. Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation at our mothers request. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday October 20th at 10:00a.m. in St. Peters Roman Catholic Church, Sheet Harbour with a CWL honour guard. Committal following the service beside her late husband in the church cemetery. Reception to follow in the parish hall. The family would like to express their sincere thanks to the nurses, Dr. Antony and staff of Eastern Shore Memorial Hospital for the excellent care of our mother.
