OBITUARY OF JOHN COLBEAR

SEPTEMBER 8 1951 - MARCH 10 2024


John, 72 of Moser River, Nova Scotia passed away peacefully at Dartmouth General Hospital surrounded by loved ones. He was born in Oshawa, Ontario and raised in Powassan, Ontario. John joined the Canadian Armed Forces (Navy) in 1971 and served for 12 years on several ships and at Marcom Ops. His last ship was the HMCS Preserver. After leaving the Navy, John worked for many years with the Canadian Corps of Commissionaires. He enjoyed history, bird watching, the outdoors and spending time with family and friends.

John is predeceased by two women that he loved dearly, Linda Carvery and Ruth Colbear. He is survived by his brother, Bill Colbear, Pembroke, ON, his daughter Theresa (Matt) Tipert, Eastern Passage, NS his son Aaron (Cassie) Colbear, Shearwater, NS as well as seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Celebration of life will be held at the Sheet Harbour Legion on Sunday March 24th at 4pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Dartmouth General Hospital Foundation in his name.
