LeBlanc, Vera Estelle-83, Sheet Harbour died Monday December 18, 2023 at the QEII Infirmary site, Halifax. Born in Glace Bay March 4, 1940 she was a daughter of the late Alfred & Dorothy (Tredwell) Davies. Vera was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She graduated from Glace Bay Hospital at a very young age and worked in Glace Bay then Tilbury Tuberculosis Hospital in England. She returned to Canada and worked in Arichat Cape Breton where she met and married her husband Ralph and she was finally old enough to be a registered nurse. From there Vera worked at several hospitals in Halifax and Dartmouth, specializing in Geriatric and Psychiatric nursing before retiring from nursing in 1982. She then trained as a baker at NSCC. She was co-owner of Fairwinds Motel and Restaurant. In her spare time Vera enjoyed reading books, and kicking her husbands butt in Scrabble. Survived by her husband of 61 years Ralph, children; Leslie Collier, Laurie, grandchildren; Wynn, Rhys, Daniel, Colleen, David and Celeidh, and great-grandson Ryan. Predeceased by her sister & best friend Mildred, brother in infancy and nephew Craig. Visitation will be held Friday December 22 from 7-9pm in DS Crowell & Son Funeral Home, 22558 Highway 7, Sheet Harbour. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday December 23 at 11am in St. Peters RC Church, Sheet Harbour, Archbishop Martin Currie officiating, burial in the church cemetery.
