Obituary of Sharon Alice-Lee Peters

Please share a memory of Sharon to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Sharon Alice Lee Peters, born November 29, 1944 in Tangier, NS passed away peacefully on November 13, 2023, 2 weeks before her 79th birthday with her loving husband Stephen and family by her side. Sharon was the daughter of the late Oswell and Charlotte Cooper. Sharon was totally devoted to Stephen to whom she was married for 46 years. She worked for a short time as a receptionist for a local Doctor in Sheet Harbour. When she got married, she committed herself to becoming a full-time homemaker. Sharon loved to bake and cook big meals. She made bread, cookies and treats weekly and she shared these with others. She made sure that Stephen had a good hot meal every night before he left for nightshift at the local mill. Sharon was a lover of flowers and birds. She tenderly cared for her plants every year, leaving her yard full of color and beauty from June until November. She loved the birds and made sure that they were cared for and that they always had plenty to eat on the feeders hanging all around their yard. She especially loved watching the hummingbirds. Sharon also loved her cat, Black Beauty whom she had for over 15 years. Because she loved both birds and cats, she would scold Black Beauty if she brought Sharon a ‘bird gift’. She trained the cat to leave the birds alone. Sharons’s love of music was evident as she listened to CDs or the radio from morning to night everyday. She especially loved Christmas music and it would not be unusual to hear Christmas Carols floating out from the open windows of their house all summer long. Sharon would say ‘I love Christmas songs so I’m not waiting for December to hear them.’ It was very fitting that Stephen was holding Sharon’s hand as we were listening to ‘Silent Night’ on November 13th when Sharon passed away very peacefully. For years Sharon regularly volunteered with the Canadian Bible Society, and she faithfully supported the Legion every Remembrance Day. Sharon’s family would like to express our appreciation for the care and love shown to Sharon and Stephen by the staff of Harbourview Lodge. Sharon is survived by her husband Stephen; brothers in law Laurie Peters (Kathy Rogers); George Peters (Connie); sisters in law Irma Snyder; Nancy Balcom (Steve); Beth Moser (Brian Duggan); Bonnie Behie (Bob); Theresa Parks (Paul). She was predeceased by her brother Randall Cooper, sister Constance Monette; brothers in law Bob Snyder, Jerry Peters and Billy Peters; sisters in law Anita Amyot and Linda Peters (in infancy). Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life, led by Rev. Mike Foley, will be held at 1 pm on Friday November 17, 2023, at Holy Trinity Anglican Church, Tangier, NS. The burial of ashes will take place after the celebration. A reception will follow at the Tangier Firehall 17559 Highway #7, Tangier NS. Family flowers only. Donations in Sharon’s name to Holy Trinity Anglican Church, Tangier or Harbourview Lodge in Sheet Harbour would be greatly appreciated.
