Obituary of Lauchlin Ralph Horton
HORTON, Lauchlin (Lauchie) Ralph - 92 Spanish Ship Bay passed away peacefully Saturday, September 22, 2018 in St. Mary’s Memorial Hospital. Born April 1st, 1926 in Spanish Ship Bay, he was the son of the late William Wallace & Edna Elizabeth (Baker) Horton. Lauchie retired from the Nova Scotia Hospital as an electrician in 1993. He loved the water and being out in the boat. He loved his family and handed down his wit and sarcasm to his son and grandson. When the three generations were together working on a project, it was highly entertaining with everyone having their own way of completing the project. For those who knew Lauchie well, it was always foolish unless you did it his way. He was always tinkering in his workshop and found a hobby in repairing old clocks. He drove his grandchildren crazy with all of the ticking and chiming in the house, especially when they went out of sync. He was active in the Masonic Lodge, a passion he shared with his son Larry. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends. Lauchie is Survived by son Larry (Viola) Horton of Sheet Harbour, and his friend Sylvia Hubley of Liscomb. Grandchildren Tara (Alex) McConnachie, Jason (Surina Anstey) and Great Grandson Kaiden McConnachie, all of Lower Sackville, NS. He was predeceased by wife Eva Jane (O’Neil), Brothers Leslie, Lawrence, Merle and Sister Delta Naufts. Visitation will be held Tuesday, September 25, from 2-4 and 7-9 in D.S. Crowell and Son Funeral Home, 22558 Highway 7, Sheet Harbour. There will be a visitation at St. Luke’s Anglican Church, Liscomb the morning of the funeral from 12:30 to 2 p.m September 26, with funeral service immediately after, Rev. Kristin MacKenize officiating, burial in the church cemetery, reception to follow at the Royal Canadian Legion, Spanish Ship Bay. Family flowers only, donations in Lauchie’s memory may be made to St. Mary’s Memorial Hospital. A special thank you to All the staff at 4 West at the Aberdeen Hospital and all the staff at St. Mary’s Memorial Hospital for the excellent care of our father/grandfather. And to his own personal Nurse Viola, he was always happy to see you!
