Obituary of Gertrude Joan Sandever

Please share a memory of Gertrude to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Age 82, passed away suddenly after a brief illness the morning of July 18, 2023. Born October 15, 1940, in Liscomb Mills she was a daughter of the late Chester and Annabelle (Hemlow) Bezanson. Mom kept herself busy with various activities such as writing poems, baking, drawing pictures and just recently learning how to paint pictures. She also enjoyed a good lobster feast. Mom spent her entire life in Nova Scotia and raised her family here, this is her home. She enjoyed working- caring for elderly and worked at Northwood Centre for nearly 20 years- a job she truly enjoyed. She was a fierce fighter and didn’t back down from anyone if she felt she was right. She loved adventure and last summer she had a lifelong wish fulfilled when she went on a helicopter trip that took her to her home in Liscomb Mills where she was born, she loved every minute of it. Mom married our father Ted Sandever and together they had four children; John, Bob (Tara), Greg (Carrie), Lisa (Richard) Alexander. In addition to her children, she is survived by grandchildren; Dugga, Allyssa, Kaitlyn, Kelly, Keirha; great-grandchildren, Chloe, Madelyn and Liam. Sisters, Gloria MacMichael, Lynda McGinn, Sharon Anderson, Maureen Avery and Faye Levy; brother, Darrell Hemlow; many nieces and nephews. Mom will be sorely missed by her children and grandchildren who she loved very much. We felt safe and happy while we were with her and she cared for each of us. Mom was predeceased by our Dad, Ted; brothers, Loman Bezanson, Allen Bezanson and Darrin Hemlow; sisters, Mineva Bezanson and Mae Sutherland. She will be greatly missed by all. Rest in peace until we meet again after the resurrection. A celebration of life will be held Monday July 24 from 2 to 3 p.m., in Ecum Secum Chapel 429 Highway 7, Ecum Secum, burial to follow, reception will be held in the Ecum Secum Fire Hall.
