It is with the greatest of sadness that we announce the passing of our loving and devoted son, husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and f              riend on Thursday, September 13, 2018 at Twin Oaks Memorial Hospital, Musquodoboit Harbour with his loving family by his side.

He was born in East Ship Harbour on June 3^rd, 1948 to Marion (MacKay) and the late Thomas (Tom), Sr.

Tommy was a welder by trade beginning his career at the Halifax Shipyards, but it wasn’t long before his love of the sea took him to work with the Canadian Coast Guard where he sailed on the Edward Cornwallis.   It was this passion for sailing that pushed him to write for his Fourth-Class Engineer Ticket.  He continued to do the job he loved until an injury forced him into retirement in 1991.

Upon his retirement his love of baseball re-surfaced, and Tommy loved baseball!  When he was young, he played every opportunity he could.  He went on to coach many Ladies softball teams, where he quickly earned the respect and the love of each and every one of them.  

Tommy was always there to help everyone especially his family as he was our “Jack of all Trades” person.  No matter what time or what the task was he was there for us.

Tommy had many passions, but the one thing he enjoyed the most was launching his boat and sailing off with Marg to their paradise on the island. This is where they spent some of their happiest times with family and friends.

Besides his mother (whom he truly cherished) Tommy is survived by the love of his life, Margaret; son Robert (Jenn); Grandsons Mitchell and Logan; Step-Grandchildren Christopher and Katie; Brothers Herb (Patricia), Joe (Sharon), Tony (Marilyn), Jerry and his “Favorite” sister Marianne (Harry) Marshall.  He is survived by many nieces and nephews with whom he had a special bond with each and everyone of them.   He was predeceased by two brothers in infancy.

A memorial service to celebrate Tommy’s life will be held Tuesday, September 18^th at 2 pm in West Jeddore United Baptist Church, Pastor Aubrey Deslotte officiating.   Reception to follow at Church Hall.    A private burial to follow in St. Denis Roman Catholic cemetery, East Ship Harbour.

We would like to take this opportunity to truly thank all the nursing staff at Twin Oaks Memorial Hospital for their heartfelt kindness to Tommy during his stay.   You will never be forgotten.
