Please share a memory of Frances to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Frances Graham Margaret JEWERS (Millar) October 22, 1930 – June 17, 2023 Wynn Park Villa, Truro A Daughter, Sister, Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Friend, Accomplished Musician Today our beautiful mother played her final note. Mom came into the world as she left it; with a song in her heart and a tune at her fingertips. Mom was the youngest of five children; born to a Scottish immigrant, the late Ronald (RD) and Violet Millar (nee Moser) of Moser River, Halifax County, Nova Scotia. Mom often told the story of how her mother sailed on the SS Dufferin from Necum Teuch to Halifax, to deliver her at the Grace Maternity hospital. As a young teen mom gained work experience with her father, a magistrate for the province of Nova Scotia. As court proceedings were held in the family home, it gave mom the opportunity to learn by working with records, witnessing legal documents and court proceedings. After high school mom left Moser River and travelled to the big city, pursuing employment with Simpsons Sears in the accounting department. In 1956 she married Douglas Jewers, also of Moser River. Together they decided that life in the city was not for them and in 1957 they moved ‘home’ to their beloved Moser River. Mom worked for the local telephone office as a switchboard operator for several years. She also worked on several government grants in the community while she was raising her family. Mom was well-known for her musical talents on piano and accordion. At the age of four she learned to play at the knee of her father. She was encouraged to learn to read music; however, her ear was far superior and she continued on that path, nurturing her life-long passion for music and entertaining. Mom is survived by her children, Marilla Knol (Stewart Weir); Lauchlan Jewers; Rhonda George (Tony); Aletha Williams (Jason) Grandchildren, Darcy Knol; Ryan Knol (Taysha Grindon); Scott George (Jill); Bradley George (Kathy); Darren George (Chelsea); Olivia Williams; Leah Williams; Heather Williams Great Grandchildren, Sophie George; Brooklyn George; Lyla George; Owen George; Juniper Knol In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 61 years Douglas Jewers; siblings, Kenneth Millar; Beatrice Bonner; Edith Rudolph; Jessie Miller; son-in-law, Gerald Knol; several brother in laws; sister in laws; nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank all caregivers at Wynn Park Villa for the excellent care given to our mother during her stay and a special thanks to D.S.
