Obituary of Lindsay Robert Levy

Levy, Lindsay Robert- 48, Sheet Harbour Passage died suddenly May 5, 2023. Born February 17, 1975 in Channel- Port aux Basques, Newfoundland. He was a son of Mary Ann (Osmond) Levy and the late Robert Levy. Lindsay started his working career at Acadian Seaplants. He spent most of his adult life as a lobster fisherman. He learned this skill from his father, who learned from his father the late David Levy, also of Sheet Harbour Passage. But Lindsay’s love of the salt water imprinted as a young child when his father took him to work. Robert was a chief engineer and Lindsay quickly earned the nickname “Little Chief” when he shadowed his father on large passenger ferries both on the water and while in port. No one could compete with Lindsay’s knowledge of electronics and his desire to figure out how any powered engine worked. Lindsay will be remembered by his family and friends as a brawny fisherman with a soft spoken voice but also for his wit, kindness, generosity and willingness to help anyone who needed a hand. He is survived by sisters; Amanda (Gerald) Levy-Pye, Paula Levy, both of Yarmouth, sister-in-law Ginny Allen-Levy, Dartmouth, niece Robyn, nephew Neil, step-nephews Talvin Allen and Ryan Gabriel, many cousins, aunts and uncles. He was predeceased was by older brother Paul and sister Ida. Cremation has taken place. Funeral service will be held Saturday May 13, 2023 at 1p.m. in St. Margarets Anglican Church, Sober Island Rev. Dr. Michael Foley officiating. Burial in the church cemetery. A reception will be held following the burial at the Sheet Harbour Legion.
