Mason, Lawrence Glen “Larry”- 86 Sheet Harbour, died Sunday January 1, 2023 in Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow. Born in Spry Harbour December 15, 1936 he was a son of the late George & Clara (Monk) Mason. Larry worked with Nova Scotia Power until his retirement in 1993 after 36 years of service. He had a passion for Freemasonry and was an active member, and Past Master of Eureka Lodge #42, and Past District Deputy Grand Master of district 2. Larry was active in the community and served as past president of the Sheet Harbour Lions Club, and past president of the Spry Harbour Atoms Club. He was also a member St. Andrew’s Anglican Church. Larry was an avid reader and enjoyed educating himself in religion, history, and politics, and he was never shy about sharing his opinion on these topics, or any other. After retiring, he enjoyed many years of camping with his late wife at Harbour Light Campground in Pictou. He is survived by children; Tammy (Eric) McNutt, Onslow Mountain, Shawna (Royden) Spears, New Glasgow, Gary (Amanda), Lower Sackville, 7 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, sisters; Irma (Harold) Cooper, Dartmouth, Denise (Neil) Marple, Port Hastings, brother Ray (Linda), Bedford. He was predeceased by wife Geraldine, brothers; George, Reginald, sisters Shirley Whitehead, Margie Boutilier, Cecelia Gerrard and Ruth Holley. Visitation will be held Wednesday January 4 from 7-9p.m. prayers at 7:30, Masonic service at 7:45 all in D.S. Crowell & Son Funeral Home 22558 Highway 7, Sheet Harbour. Funeral service will be held Thursday January 5 at 2p.m. in St. Andrews Anglican Church, Watt Section Rev. Dr. Michael Foley officiating. Burial in St. Andrews Cemetery Columbarium. My father the late Duncan S. Crowell purchased the business on August 31, 1970 from the late Parker Hamilton. Dad named it Eastern Memorial Funeral Home until a few years later when he changed the name to DS Crowell Funeral Home.
