Please share a memory of Ruby to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Age 87, of Sheet Harbour Passage, passed away peacefully on May 27, 2022, surrounded by her loving family. Ruby was born on December 7, 1934, in Moser River, to the late Melissa “Agnes” (Bezanson) and Murray Naugler. Ruby moved from her home of Moser River to Sheet Harbour Passage to teach in a one-room schoolhouse at the age of 17. It was during this time that she met the love of her life and future husband, Dunlop. Together they raised their two children in a home filled with love, laughter, delicious food, and music. Throughout her life she loved tending to her flower garden, bird watching, and listening to songs by her favourite musician, Charley Pride. After the passing of her beloved Dun, she found love again and married her second husband, Jim. Known for her generosity and kindness, Ruby was a much loved member of her community. She, along with her husband, Dunlop, was an active and loyal member of her church, where she frequently read passages and sang hymns. She read her bible every day and throughout her life continued her deep faith in the Lord. She was a perfect host to her many friends and family who frequented her home, always having fresh, delicious baked goods and ensuring that no one ever left without a cup of tea and a smile. Everyone who ever came to visit Ruby was always greeted with her beautiful smile, offered to stay for a wonderful home-cooked meal, and made to feel completely at home. Ruby was a very intelligent woman, and always willing to help anyone in need and you could always look to her for an answer to any burning question you had. Survived by her children, son, David (Janet) Spears; and daughter, Janet (Kent) Holley; grandchildren, Matthew (Stephanie) Spears, Nicole (Craig) Shaw, Melissa (Stephen) Landry, Murray (Destiny) Spears, Megan Holley, and Maria (Daniel) Holley-McGee; great-grandchildren, Adam Shaw, Charlie Spears, Michael Spears, Emilia Landry, and Emma Spears; sisters, Julie (Irvin) Wells and Alma Schaffenburg; brother, Herbert Naugler; many cousins, nieces, and nephews. Online condolences may be directed to www.crowellsfuneralhome.ca Do not stand at my grave and weep I am not there; I do not sleep. I am a thousand winds that blow, I am the diamond glints on snow, I am the sun on ripened grain, I am the gentle autumn rain. When you awaken in the morning's hush I am the swift uplifting rush Of quiet birds in circled flight. I am the soft stars that shine at night. Do not stand at my grave and cry, I am not there; I did not die. -Mary Elizabeth Frye
