Born in Popes Harbour February 8, 1937 he was a son of the late Walter and Beulah (Gerrard) Daye. Boyd went to trade school in Cape Breton for sheet metal work graduating in 1958. He began serving in the Coast Guard on board the John A. MacDonald in 1961. One of his personal achievements was crossing the Arctic Circle in 1962. He completed his apprenticeship for Lineman with Nova Scotia Power Commission in 1970. He started as a lineman and retired from the Hydro Division after 26 years of service. Boyd had an aptitude for working on small engines and he had his own business serving the local community. He loved to fly fish on the West River and at Oak Hill lake. His passion for fishing took him to Labrador and the Miramichi river. He enjoyed playing cards, Mexican train, bingo and browsing online. He spent many hours in his shop woodworking and building bird houses. His passion for antique cars led to a restoration project. He always enjoyed “spinning a good yarn!” Survived by his wife of 58 years Elizabeth Jean (Betty Jean) Myers, Boyd considered himself the luckiest man alive.
