Obituary of Dorothy Jean McInnis

Of Sheet Harbour, It is with great sadness that the family of Dorothy McInnis, 84, announces her passing on December 3, 2021 in Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow after a short illness. She was a daughter of the late Percy and Kathleen (Walsh) Mullen. Dorothy was a stay at home mom while the children were growing up and later went to work at Beaver Acres Motel and then Eastern Shore Memorial Hospital in housekeeping. She knitted mittens and donated most of them to the United Church of Sheet Harbour to be donated to the school children or anyone in need of them. She loved working in the woodpile and doing her gardening; she was always a hard worker and loved her family and most of the neighbourhood kids. Survived by daughters, Bonnie (Terry), New Glasgow; Donna (Timothy), Dartmouth; Ernie (Donna), Spry Harbour; Jamie, Sheet Harbour; grandchildren, Troy (Katherine), Alberta; Sidney (Catherine), Tangier; great-grandchildren, Christian, Halifax; Avery, Tangier; sister, Edith Conner; and sister-in-law, Joan Mullen. She was predeceased by husband, Ernest; sister, Ruth Leaky; brother, Bert Mullen; and grandson, Christopher Murphy. No visitation by request; a private family burial will be held later in the week. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Heart and Stroke Foundation or St. James United Church, Cemetery Fund.
