Owen, Keith Franklin- 85, Sheet Harbour, passed away Wednesday, November 24th, 2021 in Harbourview Lodge Nursing Home, Sheet Harbour. Born in Sheet Harbour July 21, 1936 he was a son of the late George Sr. and Grace (MacKeil) Owen. He was a member of St. James United Church, Sheet Harbour. He started his career at Moir’s Chocolate Factory in Halifax, then he and his wife moved to Ontario where they started their family. He worked as a custodian for the Toronto School Board for many years until his retirement and then moved home to Sheet Harbour with his family. Keith enjoyed bowling, softball and track and field in school. Keith and his twin brother Karl used to enjoy boxing in the old Sheet Harbour Consolidated School. He is survived by children; Randall, Ont., Mary Ann Curley, Calgary, James (Melissa), Sheet Harbour, grandchildren; Rebecca (Ryan), St. John’s NL, Tyler (Christine), Toronto, Melissa (Cory), Hebron, Amy (Sawyer), Sheet Harbour, Nathanael, Jacob and Haley, Sheet Harbour, great grandchildren; Xavier, Cobe, Stacey, Cheyenne, Dillon, Titan, Eden, Wyatt, Ashton and Kinsley, brothers; Jack (Joan), Delbert (Peggy), sister in law Geraldine, along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by wife Carole Ann (Holman), brothers; Elwood (Evelyn), George Jr, Karl and sister LuLu (Doug Verge). Cremation has taken place. Funeral will be Tuesday November 30 at 2:00p.m. at St. James United Church, Sheet Harbour Rev. Karen Fillmore officiating. Burial to follow at the Church Point Cemetery. Double vaccination, photo ID and masks are required for both the service and burial. Special thanks to Dr. Donald MacDonald, staff at Harbourview Lodge and the Palliative Care nurse. My father the late Duncan S. Crowell purchased the business on August 31, 1970 from the late Parker Hamilton. Dad named it Eastern Memorial Funeral Home until a few years later when he changed the name to DS Crowell Funeral Home.
