Obituary of Merlyn Leon Joudrey

Age 81, of Sheet Harbour, passed away peacefully Tuesday, January 21, 2020 in Harbourview Lodge, Sheet Harbour. Born August 9, 1938 in Newburne he was the only child of the late Roy Joudrey and Leah (Veinotte) Scott. Merle started his working career at Bryant Flooring and left there to start his own business, Shoreline Carpets, which he operated until 2010. He enjoyed bowling, gardening, fishing, four-wheeling, and woodworking. He was a former member of Sheet Harbour Lions Club and served a term as King Lion. Survived by his wife of 53 years, Jessie; son, Leon Joudrey, Portapique; daughter, Cora Lee Joudrey, Musquodoboit Harbour; grandchildren, Christopher, Olivia, Natalie, and Gavin; many extended family members and will forever be missed by his fur baby, Abby. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held Friday, January 24th from 7-9 p.m. in St. James United Church, Sheet Harbour, where the funeral will be held Saturday, January 25th at 11 a.m.; Rev. Kym Burke-Cole officiating. Burial in the church cemetery, with reception to follow in Sheet Harbour Legion. Family flowers only, donations in Merle's memory may be made to the SPCA. Special thanks to the staff at Harbourview Lodge, Braeside, Dr. MacDonald, continuing care nurses, and home support for their care and compassion during Merle's illness.
