Obituary of Jenny Gammon

Please share a memory of Jenny to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Aug. 6, 1919 - March 16, 2021. Born in Sydney to Joseph and Obeline (Pottie) Penney , our precious mother passed with family at her side in Eastern Shore Memorial Hospital, Sheet Harbour. Our family has lost its Matriarch, Storyteller and Comedian. She married our Dad, Roy Gammon, July 22, 1946 and they settled in the family home in West Quoddy . Three children followed: Sharon, Beverly and “favourite son” Phillip. Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren were very precious to Mom, and she loved telling them stories of her childhood in Sydney, as well as to any captive audience she could garner. Dancing, camping, a love of hats, playing 45's, sewing and crocheting doll clothes for her granddaughters, crocheting afghans for family and friends, cooking and baking, crossword puzzles and word search were Mom's s strong interests and joys. She was a devoted parishioner at St. Michaels’s Church, East Quoddy and in her later years St. Peter’s . She was the first President of St. Michael’s CWL. Mom moved from the family home in 1990 and settled next to her daughter, Bev, who in later years became her caregiver so Mom could remain in her mini home. We appreciate the many family, extended family and friends, and Godchild Rose, who came to Mom's home and made her feel special and who sent cards and placed phone calls to her. Mom was known as "Aunt Jenny" to others from outside our family. Mom is survived by children, Sharon Elliott (John) Chestermere, Alberta, Beverly Smith, Watt Section, son Phillip (Susan) West Quoddy, grandchildren, Lesley Halstead (Guy) children, Beckett and Marlo, Langdon, Alberta; Ainsley Elliott (Ed) children, Charlie and Kendall, Chestermere; Nadine Smith (Jason), daughter, Hailee Pelletier, Cole Harbour; Michelle Harrington (Kyle), daughter, Emma, Mount Uniacke; Jocelyn Jackson (Steve), Toronto, Ont., son, Owen; Mitchell Gammon (Nicole) sons, Morgan and Roy, West Quoddy, and Melissa Gammon (Shawn), Terence Bay; step great granddaughter, Josee Langille (Nick) Baby Kane, Hemford, and step great grandson, Matthew Boutilier; her sister Helen MacDonald, Sydney, sister-in-law, Meryl Penney, Glace Bay; cousin Maureen Giesbrecht (George), Cranbrook, BC. Predeceased by her parents, husband Roy, siblings, and son-in-law, Blois Smith. Sincere appreciation to Dr. MacDonald and staff at Eastern Shore Memorial Hospital. Cremation has taken place under the care of Crowell's Funeral Home. Funeral Mass at St. Peter’s officiated by Archbishop Martin Currie, Saturday, March 27 at 2:00 p.m. Committal following at St. James Anglican Cemetery, Port Dufferin.
