Age 101, passed away peacefully July 6, 2020 in Braeside Nursing Home, Middle Musquodoboit. Born January 16, 1919 she was a daughter of the late Harry Hawes and Edna (Mason, Hawes, Cooper). Eileen was a member of Holy Trinity Church, a member of the A.C.W., leader of the junior auxiliary, Sunday school teacher and a member of the church choir. She worked for many years as assistant pastry cook at the Halifax Infirmary and also cook at Seamans Bay Restaurant. Survived by daughters, Marie O'Brian, Hamilton, Ont.; Myrna (Ivan) Walsh, Sheet Harbour; Marilyn (Barry) Clattenburg, Porters Lake; Christina (Phillip) Schofield, Edmonton; son, Paul (Debbie), Lake Echo; daughters- in-law, Rhonda, Commox, B.C.; June, Moncton; brother, Leslie (Rhea) Cooper, Orleans, Ont.; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; five great great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by husband, William; sons, Murray and Gary; brothers, Joseph and Harry Hawes and Laurie Cooper; sisters, Gertrude Hawes, Myra Hannon; great-grandson, Colby Bradley; daughter-in-law, Sharon; son-in-law, Joseph O'Brian. Arrangements are entrusted to D.S. Crowell & Son Funeral Home, Sheet Harbour. A private family visitation will be held, with a public graveside service Friday, July 10th, at 2 p.m. in Holy Trinity Church Cemetery, Rev. Lorraine Otto officiating. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Breast Cancer Foundation or Heart and Stroke Foundation.
