Obituary of Florella Mae Howe

With great sorrow and sadness, we the family announce the passing of our beloved Mom, Nammy and Great Nammy on Sunday, August 2, 2026, at the age of 83. Born on May 24, 1943, in Lochaber Mines, she was the daughter of the late Oswald and Lila Mae (Cooper)Russell. She had several careers during her life but the longest and the one from which she retired from was The Bank of Nova Scotia in Sheet Harbour. Her greatest passions were her family, crafts, sewing, lexicon puzzles, all animals especially her cats ( Precious, Jacko and Swazi) which she adored. Survived by her daughter Dawn and son-in-law Ed Gardiner, son James Jr (Jamie), grandchildren Stephen (Jay)(Brittany Sack), Janay (Carl Boutilier), Nick and Tyler Howe, Great Grandchildren Malikhi, Jayda Mae, Ellie Ann, Vladimir, Ivanna and Dawson; Sisters Aggie (Wally), Bev (Tom), Betty (Blaine), Lorraine and Margie, Brother Danny (Apryl); several Godchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Pre-deceased by her loving husband James Joseph Sr, son-in-law Stephen Power and Great granddaughter Brielle Marie Power, Parents Oswald and Lila Mae (Cooper), brothers Bertram, Bernard, Cyril, Alex, Ozzie, Syd and sisters Lorna and Francis. Visitation will take place at DS Crowell & Son Funeral Home 22558 Hwy 7 in Sheet Harbour on Thursday, August 6, 2-4, 7-9 with prayers at 7:30 pm. Funeral service will be at St. Peter’s Catholic Church 43 St. Peter’s Loop Sheet Harbour on Friday August 7 at 4 pm.
