Obituary of Randall Clarence Burgoyne

Randall "Randy" Clarence Burgoyne It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Randall "Randy" Clarence Burgoyne, age 64, of Ecum Secum, who passed away on Thursday, July 16, 2026, at Eastern Shore Memorial Hospital, Sheet Harbour. Born on July 17, 1961, Randy was the son of Catherine (Gillis) Burgoyne and the late Clarence Burgoyne. Following high school, Randy attended vocational school to study cooking, but soon realized it wasn't the career for him. He proudly joined the Canadian Navy, where he served his country for 10 years. After returning home, he fished with Ricky aboard the Scotty & Sisters and later worked in Sambro for the Henneberry family. Randy eventually headed west, where he worked in the oil fields driving a Hydro Vac truck. Upon returning to Nova Scotia, he resumed lobster fishing with Ken Pace, a career he continued to enjoy until declining health forced his retirement. Randy had a passion for the outdoors and for spending time with family and friends. He enjoyed fishing of every kind, playing darts, pool, and cards, and was an avid softball player who loved pitching. In quieter moments, he could often be found watching television, especially any sporting event. Randy will be lovingly remembered by his daughter, Kathy (Jon) Pye; his cherished grandchildren, Brody, Ethan, and Rylee; his brother, David; and many nieces and nephews. Besides his father, Clarence, Randy was predeceased by his beloved son, Billy Burgoyne; his partner, Eleanor Mahar; and his sisters, Debbie and Ellen. A graveside service will take place Saturday July 25 at 2pm in St. James Anglican Cemetery, Port Dufferin. Donations in Randy's memory may be made to the Billy Burgoyne Memorial Softball Bursary, a cause that honours both Randy's love of softball and the memory of his son.
