Obituary of Brian Purcell

Frank “Brian” Purcell, age 72, of Sheet Harbour, Nova Scotia, passed away peacefully surrounded by family at the QE11 hospital on July 6th 2026. Brian was born on February 2nd 1954 in Sheet Harbour to Rose (Fife) and George Purcell. Brian started his career of driving, by driving the ambulance for DS Crowell at the age of 16. He then went on to work in long haul trucking for 46 years, finishing his driving career with Dexters Construction in 2026. During this time he volunteered with ground search and rescue. Brian loved to be in nature, hunting, fishing, gardening and watching birds. In his younger years, he was an avid baseball player. Brian was also known for his love of pranks and playful spirit. He will be remembered for his quick wit, playful sense of humour and his ability to make everyone around his laugh. Brian married the love of his life Wanda MacIsaac in 1974. They went on to create life full of love through their children and grandchildren, and great grandchildren. His family was his greatest joy, full of pride and our greatest protector. He is survived by his loving wife, Wanda Purcell (MacIsaac), his daughters Sasha (Gary), Robyn (Roddy); son Brandon; grandchildren Hailey, Hannah, Hunter, Landon, Nevaeh, Piper & Archer; great-grandchildren Everly & Elliott; siblings Margaret, James (Inez) & Marjorie (Wade) and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Rose (Fife) and George Purcell, brother David and brother in law Elmer Mombourquette. Visitation will be held Friday, July 10th from 2-4pm & 7-9pm, at the DS Crowell & Son Funeral home 22558 Hwy 7, Sheet Harbour. Funeral service will be held Saturday July 11th at 11am at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Sheet Harbour. Reception to follow at the Sheet Harbour Lions Center.
