Obituary of Gerald Leslie Prest

Gerald Leslie Prest It is with sadness that the family announces the sudden passing of Gerald Leslie Prest, age 72, of Mooseland, on June 28, 2026, at his home. Born in Sheet Harbour on October 12, 1953, Gerald was a son of the late H. Clarke and Jean (MacKenzie) Prest. In his earlier years, Gerald worked alongside his family with Prest Brothers at the sawmill. He later spent a summer working in British Columbia before returning home to Nova Scotia, where he was employed as a janitor at the IWK Hospital in Halifax. Throughout the years, he was also well known for lending a helping hand and doing odd jobs around the community whenever needed. In his younger years, Gerald enjoyed trout fishing and spending time with family and friends playing cards, especially cribbage and 45s. He had a special fondness for his cats, which brought him much companionship over the years. Gerald is survived by his sister, Patricia (Ken) Graham of British Columbia, as well as many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sisters, Viola Prest and Shirley Munroe; and his brothers, Robert "Bobby," Henry, John, and Michael. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at a later date. The family would like to thank everyone for their kindness and support during this difficult time.
