Obituary of Gordon Charles Holman Jr.

Please share a memory of Gordon to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Gordon Charles Holman Jr. He passed away suddenly on March 8th, at the age of 71 in his place of residence in Calgary, Alberta. He was born in Sheet Harbour on January 20th, 1955, and was the oldest son of the late Gordon Charles Holman Sr. and Eva Elizabeth (Barkhouse) Holman. Gordie is survived by his brother Randall - Maine, sister Lisa - Nova Scotia, niece Samantha - California, ex-wife Cathy - California, and stepson Brandon (BJ) - Oregon. Gordie lived most of his life in Southern California after our parents moved us there in the mid 60's. He served with the US Army after High School, and worked a few different jobs after leaving the service. He worked for a close family friend who owned and operated an iconic Schwinn bicycle dealership, he also worked for the U-Haul company, but the highlight of his career was working with the largest Ford dealership in the world, Galpin Ford in California. He worked in their studio rental division, that rented trucks and trailers to the movie studios in Hollywood. Gordie shared the same interest in vintage automobiles as his late father. He restored, and owned a few of them over the years. He even rented some of them out to the movie studios in Hollywood to be used as a display/props on the movie sets. Gordie eventually moved back to his home town of Sheet Harbour, Nova Scotia and purchased a house in the heart of town where he lived for a few years before eventually going out to work in Alberta where he spent the last 10 years of his life. Gordie was always there for us when we needed him over the years. He will be deeply missed by those of us he left behind. Cremation has already taken place, and no services have been scheduled.
