………..
Warren and I go a long way back to early junior high school days, in fact, we were among the first to go to the newly constructed Duncan McMillan high school in Sheet Harbour. So we chummed around a bit during these early school days and on into high school. When high school ended we kind of went separate ways for a bit and reconnected before going to university. We made a plan to go to Acadia University in Wolfville NS together but at the last minute I switched plans and went to the University of New Brunswick in Fredericton NB. Although our paths diverged at that time, Warren would initiate contact periodically and incorporated me into some adventure or family event, thus renewing our friendship. To the point of this narrative: Warren was a master of recruiting friends and cultivating friendships. His kind and friendly demeanor served him well and he accumulated many friends. This was clearly demonstrated by the number of people that gathered to celebrate his life.
Joint ownership of a sailboat might be the gold standard for testing the bond between friends. We challenged that test and at the end of several years of joint ownership of a sailboat we decided to sell it and jointly purchased a powerboat. Rosalie and Gerri were party to these enterprises but not as engaged or as active as Warren and I, but they were duly rewarded by the entertainment value of the processes and mechanisms that we employed in keeping these craft afloat, launched, and hauled out.
The value that one puts in friendships is clearly expressed by the number of friends you have and how you maintain those friendships. Warren excelled in making friends, keeping friends, and recruiting new friends. Likewise, he excelled in family relationships bringing family together for occasions when he tirelessly prepared feasts for family and friends. There is a lot to remember about Warren as a friend and family man. These credentials are worthy of high praise and recognition.
To my friend Warren:
You have truly and duly earned a legacy that will never be forgotten by me,
your family, and many friends!
Peter Oickle
Generous and genuine are what comes top of mind when I think of Warren. A compassionate and considerate soul, I’m grateful to have known this kind man. I will miss Warren deeply. I wish that his loving family find some sense of peace in the face of this great loss.

Memories of Warren and visits with him and his family cover over 50 years. From our meeting at Acadia in 1969 and becoming roommates to this past winter in Portugal where we went together for coffee every morning and all the years in between. Warren was a man of empathy and genuine caring which showed up in everything he did. I will miss him tremendously.

The friendship that my Dad (David Muir) and Warren shared after meeting and being roommates at Acadia University brought with it some wonderful childhood memories. Heading to the Parsons’ wonderful country home in Pictou County was always a lovely get away. It seemed there was always an outdoor adventure Warren was heading up and I’m thankful for these lovely memories.

Sending heartfelt sympathy to Rosalie and all of Warren's family and friends, as you celebrate Warren's life today. He was as kind a man as he was capable and insightful. We appreciated his time working with DFO, and also catching up for a coffee post-retirement, now and then. This photo is of Warren on a local patrol in Paulatuk NT- he was always enthusiastic to engage with the community, was well liked by the community harvesters, and to be out on the land. Rest in Peace, Warren. Lois Harwood and family, Yellowknife.

I remember a private conversation I had with Warren at a party in Halifax in 1974. Warren knew I was upset about something and he offered some very kind words of wisdom. I followed his suggestion and this helped a lot. Over the years both Warren and Rosalie supported the decisions I made without judgment and I feel like they include me as part of their family. This means a lot to me. Warren will be missed.

Dear Rosalie and children. I am So sad to read this news that Warren has passed. I have such fond memories of him and all his siblings when they lived at the rectory in Tangier. We had fun times together coasting, swimming and doing all the outdoor activities so common of those years. Warren was a gentle soul, soft spoken with a twinkle in his eye. We were all good friends who cared about each other. His dad, Rev. Ron Parsons always encouraged the youth of the community and implemented a Youth Group in the community of Tangier so the young people would have a placed to gather. Warren was part of the group.
Sending deepest love, caring and sympathy Rosalie to you, your children and Warrens siblings at such a difficult time.

I had the honor of knowing Warren during my career at DFO C&P. He was the epitome of a gentleman and while he spoke softly, he was very wise and witty.
He always spoke with pride about his children and wife and it was clear that they were his everything.
My sincere condolences to Rosalie and the entire family.

Warren was so kind, generous, practical, clever.... and that barely scratches the surface of his positive attributes. His support of community projects and love of his family was obvious through his actions. I particularly enjoyed sharing the Christmas Bird Count with Warren when we returned to Spry Bay for numerous Decembers. As we drove along to areas that folks would not access by foot, I would keep the records as Warren would identify the birds. I would have been hopeless on my own. It was a delightful time. His twinkling eyes and knowing smile will be remembered. We enjoyed his wisdom and view point on many topics. Mark and I send Rosalie and the family our love and hope for peace. Warren was a wonderful man. He was such a good Grampy to his grandchildren. Ashton loved spending time in Spry Bay with the Parsons family where Warren would make all you can eat pancakes for breakfast. We had lots of great conversations with Warren over the past number of years. Warren was trained by my grandfather as a fishery officer when he was first starting his career. Small world!
He will be deeply missed.

Warren was the reason I joined the Friends of Taylor Head (a chance meeting while he was bbqing hot dogs on the beach one sunny August day). Taylor Head was a place he was passionate about and its formation of the society will remain as his legacy.
Gosh, I will miss his chats. Warren made a great impression to people with his calm nature.
