

Obituary of Elda Alice Harriett Naugler

Naugler, Elda Alice Harriett (Mailman) Age 83 of Moser River, passed away Thursday, April 9 2026 with her daughter by her side at Eastern Shore Memorial Hospital Palliative Care Sheet Harbour Nova Scotia. Born May 8 1942 in Liscomb, she was the daughter of the late Lester and Mary (Gaskill) Mailman. Elda was a homemaker in her early years, raising four children in Dartmouth Nova Scotia. A dedicated mother to Andrew, Martin, Krista and Shannon. Later in life Elda moved to Moser River with her common law husband Wallace Moser. Elda worked at Liscomb Lodge, Head of Housekeeping for many many years. Also volunteering with the Moser River Community Hall, attending to the flower gardens every year with the help of Wally & her grand daughter Hannah by her side. Elda help create the Grand Friends Program a Seniors program filled with activities for Seniors & Elda always looked forward to a day of bowling with her peers. Elda was An Artist who was once a member with “Seacoast Trails Art Association “ located in Sheet Harbour. One of the First Artists here along The East Coast to design Sea Glass Jewelry & travel province wide to Festivals. Elda also was a Painter and with her creativity her canvas was on almost everything she beachcombed from sea glass to shells to driftwood. She also would take her painted rocks and secretly hide them along the beaches for other beach combers to find. She especially loved to share her creativity with her grandchildren as she was very active in their lives. Elda looked forward to her phone calls from family especially her brothers Lloyd and Doug. She enjoyed her trips to Liscomb having a picnic at the Old Homestead & skipping rocks along the shore & filling her pockets with sea shells & sea glass and rocks. Than a visit to her brother Doug’s for a cup of tea & molasses cookie & reminiscing of days gone bye. Elda enjoyed her quiet country life with Wally and the many adventures they shared, she especially loved being out on the water with Wally in their dory that Wally built. She will be dearly missed by her fur baby “Buster”, Griffin the Parrot & Kitty Cat. Elda will forever be missed but never forgotten by her family.
She is survived by her common law husband Wallace Moser. Sons Andrew & Martin Naugler and daughter Shannon and Glen Pye, 17 grand children,9 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren, brothers; Gerald, Lloyd and Douglas Mailman, sister Verena Crof, many nieces & nephews whom she adored and was known as Aunt Eldie. Predeceased by daughter Krista Leonard, brothers; Truman, Delbert, Hector, and Russell in infancy, sisters; Doris Grantor, Kathleen Rose, half-brothers; Elliott and Mac Baker. No visitation or funeral by request. A graveside service will be held Tuesday April 14 at 1pm in St. Lukes Anglican Cemetery, Liscomb. A Special Thank You to All of those that helped with Moms Care. Dr Donald G MacDonald compassionate care given to mom over the many years St Mary’s Memorial Hospital Sherbrooke NS Eastern Shore Memorial Hospital Palliative Care Team Nurses CCAs as well as Cheryl DeWolfe attending to the family needs during moms stay in Sheet Harbour, to DS Crowell & Son Funeral Home for their care and compassion. Also Wally for his continuous love & care helping keep mom home during her battle with dementia. Special thank you to “The Mailman’s “Moms Family for making her last wish come true, bringing Mom home to Liscomb to Rest.

My father the late Duncan S. Crowell purchased the business on August 31, 1970 from the late Parker Hamilton. Dad named it Eastern Memorial Funeral Home until a few years later when he changed the name to DS Crowell Funeral Home.
