Obituary of Clarence Alvin Burgoyne
Please share a memory of Clarence to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Clarence Alvin Burgoyne, age 89, of Port Dufferin, who passed away on Sunday, March 29, 2026, at Eastern Shore Memorial Hospital.
Born on May 14, 1936, in Port Dufferin, he was a son of the late Havelock and Etta (Logan) Burgoyne.
In his younger years, Clarence worked at McLean Beverages in New Glasgow. He later returned to his beloved Port Dufferin, where he fished alongside his father. Clarence also served his community as a custodian at Sheet Harbour Consolidated School and Duncan MacMillan High School.
Clarence was happiest outdoors, whether walking the roads of Port Dufferin, tending to his woodpile, mowing the lawn, or relaxing on his porch swing. He enjoyed hunting and mackerel fishing, playing harmonica and the spoons, and took great pride in his beautiful flower gardens.
He is lovingly remembered by his wife of 66 years, Catherine; his sons, Randy and David Burgoyne; his beloved dog, Buddy; his nine grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren; his brother, Johnny(Darlene); and many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Clarence was predeceased by his daughters, Ellen and Debbie; his brothers, Bernard, Sterling, and Basil; one sister in infancy; and his grandson, Billy Burgoyne.
Visitation will take place on Wednesday, April 1, from 2–4 p.m. and 7–9 p.m. at DS Crowell & Son Funeral Home, 22558 Highway 7, Sheet Harbour. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 2, at 2 p.m. in St. Giles Presbyterian Church, Moser River. Reception to follow at the SR Balcom Center, Port Dufferin. Burial will be held at a later date.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the Northwood Homecare workers, Dr. MacDonald, and the nurses and staff of Eastern Shore Memorial Hospital for their care and compassion shown to Clarence.
A special message from his loving wife, Catherine:
“I’ll love you forever, even though your gone, our hearts will collide for an eternity”
