Obituary of Valerie Charlotte Rose Mercer

It is with heavy hearts that we acknowledge the passing of Valerie Charlotte Rose Mercer (MacKarney) born April 26, 1940 in Beaver Harbour, Nova Scotia. Charl worked a long career in government service and, after retiring, took care of her mother and father in their home in Beaver Harbour.
A generous person who gave of herself at every opportunity, helping her church, those who she knew, as well as donated her time and efforts to people who were complete strangers. One didn't have to do much to have Charl's gratitude.
She was predeceased by her parents Jack MacKarney, and Lottie MacKarney (Leask), her brother John MacKarney, and her husband Donald Mercer.
She will be dearly missed by her friends and family. If she were able, Charl would speak ever so warmly, and thankfully of her cousin, Gloria Ryan for her friendship, dedication, love, efforts and advocacy, especially over the past 7 years.
Cremation has taken place, burial at a later date.
