Obituary of Audrey Elizabeth Verge
Please share a memory of Audrey to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
VERGE (BORGAL), Audrey Elizabeth, age 95, of Sheet Harbour; It is with great sadness our family announces the passing of our dear Mom on Wednesday, January. 21, 2026. Audrey died peacefully at Harbourview Lodge Nursing Home in Sheet Harbour. She was born in Spry Bay, NS on December. 21, 1930 to Morris and Annie (Wilcox) Borgal.
Audrey is survived by her four children Roseanna (Albert) Dacey, Charlie (Dawn), Jeffrey (Nancy), Carter (Jeanette), 10 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and another on the way. As well as her older sister June Clattenburg, brother in-law Cecil Verge, numerous nieces and nephews. Audrey is predeceased by her husband Harry of 40 years, and her siblings Marjorie (Reginald) Barkhouse, brother in law Glen Clattenburg and Jack (Helen) Borgal.
Mom’s first profession, at the age of 18, was as a school teacher in a one room school house. She happily continued on the path of education for over 20 years as a substitute teacher in the community of Sheet Harbour.
Mom and Dad had memorable vacations to Florida, Nashville, and Newfoundland, along with many camping adventures to Blue Grass Festivals, Cape Breton, Gaspe’ coast and Hilden campgrounds. Mom loved quilting, reading, lexicon puzzles, walking, making preserves and cooking over the years. Mom proudly made quilts for every one of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, a keepsake we all cherish.
Our mom was well known for her amazing memory recall and stories right up until her passing. She was interviewed and asked frequently in regard to people and events that occurred in the community over the years. Mom loved living in Sheet Harbour and was blessed with many friendships over her lifetime. The kindness and love shown to our mom over the years, especially in her later years, was something her family will never forget.
The family would like to thank Northwood home-care staff, Eastern Shore Memorial Hospital, Harbourview Lodge, Dr. Don MacDonald, Crowell's funeral home and Reverend Mike Foley for their love, care, kindness and compassion over the last years of mom’s life.
There will be a visitation at DSCrowell & Son Funeral home 22558 Highway 7, on Friday, January. 30, 2026 from 11:00am-1:00pm followed immediately by a celebration service and reception at Sheet Harbour Legion.
