The family of Ella Doucette is saddened to announce the passing of their mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother Ella Ruth Doucette
Ella passed peacefully at the Saint John Regional Hospital in New Brunswick on Wednesday, Dec 31, 2025, surrounded by her four daughters.
Ella was predeceased by her husband Cyril, her sons Bob and Micheal, her daughter-in-law Linda, and her son-in-law Blair Wetmore as well as by a grandson, Christopher Doucette
She is survived by her sons Carl, Eric (Kathi), Don (Gary), and by daughters Joanne (Bill), Marie, Shirley (Eric), and Lisa (John), and by daughters-in-law Pat and Marilyn.
Ella was a proud grandmother to 23 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.
Ella was born April 29,1926 in PEI. She raised five children in PEI and then moved to Nova Scotia and continued her family with another four children.
She moved to New Brunswick in 2016 to be near three of her daughters. She took great pride in all her homes and frequently re-decorated and rearranged the furniture.
She enjoyed good health up until a few days ago and was looking forward to celebrating her 100th birthday in April. She was the last of her generation but stayed connected to her late brothers and sisters through regular visits from three special PEI nieces – Gaylene, Marlene and Darlene.
All who met Ella thought of her as a great lady and she will be missed by all who knew her, and especially by her large and loving family.
Ella was a woman of great faith. Visitation will be held Sunday January 4 from 10am-12:30pm in DS Crowell & Son Funeral Home 22558 Highway 7, Sheet Harbour. A funeral service will follow at 1pm in St Peter’s Roman Catholic Church, Sheet Harbour, Archbishop Martin Currie officiating, burial in the church cemetery. A reception will be held following the burial at the Sheet Harbour Legion.

My father the late Duncan S. Crowell purchased the business on August 31, 1970 from the late Parker Hamilton. Dad named it Eastern Memorial Funeral Home until a few years later when he changed the name to DS Crowell Funeral Home.
