Ashley Dawn Turner, age 36, of Moser River, passed away suddenly on October 5, 2025.
Born in Halifax on June 22, 1989, Ashley was the daughter of Valerie Hape and the late James Turner. Ashley will be remembered for her creative spirit and love of simple joys. She enjoyed putting together necklaces, attending card parties, playing bingo, and a good game of crib. She especially loved fishing for mackerel from the wharf in Ecum Secum and held a deep fondness for the Christmas season, which brought her great happiness. Besides her mother, Valerie, Ashley is survived by her loving children, Haylee and Skyler; her sister, Penny; and her step-father, Elmer Sharpe. She is also survived by her uncles Danny (Sylvia), Teddy (Jane), Lloyd (Norma), Patty, and Gus (Shiann), along with extended family and friends who will miss her dearly. Ashley was predeceased by her father, James Turner, Uncles, Gene, George and Gerald, Aunt Annabelle in infancy and grandparents, Bill and Nola (Jewers) Hape. Ashley’s memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved her. A Graveside service will be held 2pm Saturday January 24, 2026 in St. Barnabas Anglican Cemetery, Ecum Secum followed by a Celebration of Life in the Moser River Community Hall, Moser River.

My father the late Duncan S. Crowell purchased the business on August 31, 1970 from the late Parker Hamilton. Dad named it Eastern Memorial Funeral Home until a few years later when he changed the name to DS Crowell Funeral Home.
