My name is Diana McCall and Seldon and I are cousins. My mother was his aunt Florence. We lived and grew up in Edmonton but I have lived most of my married life in Calgary. I met Seldon twice. The first time was when he was just a little guy and I believe the family lived in the house that my mom grew up in. The second time was in 1973 and he was a grown man by then and we had the family reunion. I remember what a nice fellow he was and so were his siblings. Seldon’s dad, my Uncle Douglas came to Edmonton with Aunt Connie and Aunt Ida for my mother’s funeral in February 1979. It was a bitter cold winter day standing outside at the gravesite but not a word of complaint from her beloved siblings. I know how much my mother loved him and her two sisters. Sadly she didn’t get to see them very much because of the distance.
My husband passed away a year ago and I know well the ache in your heart that never goes away . My sister Barbara who was there for a reunion some years ago passed two years ago. Our family is getting smaller.
I send my condolences on behalf of my mother and sister and please know that I am praying for him and for your family as they suffer such devastating grief.

Such beautiful, true words. I will always remember the bait shed, Seldon cutting bait with my son, Peter Keating, 2 years or more, passing the odd mackerel to him!

When ever I visited the Harbour if Seldon saw me he made a point to stop and say hello. It might be ten or more years but he'd still recognize me and I him and it would be as if I had seen him last week. I always had the highest respect for him and was extremely happy to have known him. I am so sorry for you Debbie and what you have already had to endure this year. My thoughts are with you and your family ❤️

Seldon was a brother-in-law and neighbour for many years. I can attest to his generosity, when our son and family lost all their possessions in the Fort McMurray fire he was at our doorstep with an envelope of cash for their time of need. When his mom lost his father he visited just about every night he was home and played cards with her, many a pennies were lost and won. It was his way of making sure she was alright. He will be forever missed.

Dear Debbie, Seldon Jr and the entire family, please accept or sincere condolences on the sudden and unexpected passing of Seldon.
Some of our favourite memories of Seldon took place while guiding for the moose hunt in Cape Breton.
Stuck pulling a bull moose out of a bog, a call for help on the VHF was made. First to show up was Seldon of course. With that big smile he said “guess that red Honda can’t handle it” He then hooked his yellow Honda onto mine and that bull was across the bog and up the hill to the road.
Never saw a bigger smile than when he had a moose on the trailer taking it down the mountain!
Taking Mary’s ATV to Cape Breton for her so she could run up and down that mountain!
So many laughs shared, thanks for the memories
Sincerely, Lantz and Mary

So sorry for your loss. I can’t imagine the weight of the losses the family has felt this year. I have fond memories of my teenage years being around the family. You were all so welcoming and you all are so closely knit. Family being so important above all. My thoughts are with you during such a difficult time.

From my Dad and me, our deepest condolences and wishes for peace and comfort to his family and loved ones. As a father and daughter who fish, we know how much he was valued by his many peers in the fishing community and how much he and Jason were respected. If you couldn’t find a boat part, you got a hold of Seldon—he’d likely know where to point you.
