

Obituary of Maxine Constance MacIsaac

It is with heartfelt sadness that the family of Maxine Constance MacIsaac, age 82, of Moser River, announces her passing on Thursday, October 23, 2025, at Harbourview Lodge, Sheet Harbour.
Born in Canso on September 19, 1943, she was a daughter of the late Frederick and Katherine (Smith) Crooks.
Maxine worked for several years with Canada Packers before devoting herself full-time to her home and family. She took great pride in keeping a warm and welcoming home and was known for her boundless energy and love of keeping busy. Maxine enjoyed driving, playing cards and crib, and spending time at the dartboard with friends. Her quick wit and kind heart will be fondly remembered by all who knew her.
She is survived by her children James (Wanda), Elmsdale; and Sharon, Moser River; grandchildren Kayla (Jonathan), Travis, Ryan (Emma), and Katie; and great-grandchildren Emma, Ally, and Titan. Maxine will also be deeply missed by her sisters Myra Smith, Ardais Crawley, and Darla Barkhouse.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband James, brother Dalton Smith and Howard MacDonald, and brothers-in-law Greg Smith and Dennis Crawley.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, at 2 p.m. in St. Giles Presbyterian Church, 28832 Highway 7, Moser River, with Rev. Glen Matheson officiating. Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Moser River.
The family would like to extend special thanks to Dr. MacDonald and the staff of Harbourview Lodge for their excellent care and compassion.

My father the late Duncan S. Crowell purchased the business on August 31, 1970 from the late Parker Hamilton. Dad named it Eastern Memorial Funeral Home until a few years later when he changed the name to DS Crowell Funeral Home.
