Obituary of Brian Christopher Malay

It is with deep sadness that the family of Brian Christopher Malay, age 67, of Spry Bay, announce his sudden passing at home on Monday, October 21, 2025. Born in Sheet Harbour on July 16, 1958, Brian was a son of the late Enos and Leone (Russell) Malay. After graduating from high school, he attended Dartmouth Vocational School, where he completed a course in refrigeration—a trade he practiced with pride and dedication throughout his life. Brian was a man of many talents and passions. He found great joy in the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing, and had a deep love for music. A gifted musician, he played numerous instruments and often shared his music with others, especially the elderly, bringing comfort and cheer through his performances. He also served his community as a former member of the Milford Fire Department. Brian will be lovingly remembered by his son, Jared; grandsons Dante and Damion; siblings Virginia, Linda Frail, Elsie (Ervin) Beaver, and Nathaniel (Viola); biological mother Christina Boutilier; and half-siblings Diane, Terri, Tanya, and Chrissy. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family. He was predeceased by his beloved wife Jocelyn; his son Brian Jr.; siblings Frank, Harold, Bradford, Russell, and Ronald; and half-brother Robert. Visitation will be held Sunday October 26 from 7-9pm with prayers at 7:30 in DS Crowell & Son Funeral Home, 22558 Highway 7, Sheet Harbour. Funeral Service will be held Monday October 27 at 2pm in St. James United Church, Lochaber Mines, burial to follow in the church cemetery. Brian will be remembered for his warm heart, sense of humour, musical spirit, and unwavering love for his family. His presence will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
