Obituary of Dorothy Jean Walsh

Dorothy Jean Walsh March 20, 1943 – October 1, 2025 Dorothy Jean Walsh, age 82, of Tangier, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, at the Dartmouth General Hospital. Born in Owl’s Head on March 20, 1943, she was the daughter of the late Danvers and Evelyn (Keating) Stevens. Dorothy lived a full and hardworking life. She spent several years working as a waitress before joining Abriel's Fish Plant, and later retired from Tangier Gold Mines. Known for her strong work ethic and independent spirit, she always found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She enjoyed playing bingo, gardening, going for walks, going to dances and never missed a crossword puzzle in the Chronicle Herald. Dorothy took pride in always looking her best — her hair and makeup were always done, and she never went without her jewelry. Dorothy is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Charlie; daughter Jeannette (Glenn); sons Stephen (Pam), Lemmon Hill, and Kevin (Fern), Mooseland Road. She also leaves behind her sister Bessie Boudreau of Dartmouth; brother Ronnie (Nellie) of Owl’s Head; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two children in infancy, and siblings Christine, Harold, Ada, Wayne, and Fred. In keeping with Dorothy’s wishes, cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation or funeral service. A private burial will be held at a later date. The family would like to thank the staff at Dartmouth General Hospital for their care and compassion. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew and loved her
