CURRIE, FRASER VIDUS- 85, Sheet Harbour. With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Fraser Vidus Currie on August 26, 2025 at the age of 85 in Eastern Shore Memorial Hospital. Born in Marinette , April 21, 1940 to Neil and Mae (Cruickshank) Currie. Fraser was employed with the Department of Transportation for many years. He was a Legion Member for 50 plus years. Fraser enjoyed playing baseball for many years, and enjoyed sharing his knowledge of the game with Thom and Allee. He was a regular at the ballfield, never missing a game. Fraser also loved reading his Western books. He loved visits with his children and grandchildren hearing their stories and passing on his life lessons. Fraser is survived by his wife of 59 years, Nora; Children, Mark (Juanita), Heather, Jeffery (Poppy-Jo) and Tammie; nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren; sister, Thelma, sister-in-laws, Ola, Deanna and Elsie. Predeceased by brothers, Allan, Eddy, Gervaise, Jackie, Roddy and Baby Cyril; sisters, Dollie, Betty, Linda, and great grandchild, Kyle.
Visitation 2-4 and 7-9 pm today with prayers at 7:30 pm all in D.S. Crowell & Son Funeral Home, 22558 Highway 7 Sheet Harbour. Funeral Mass will be held 11 am, Friday, August 29th in St. Peters Roman Catholic Church, Sheet Harbour. Burial in church cemetery. Reception to follow in Sheet Harbour Legion Watt Section. Family flowers only. Donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or Canadian Cancer Society. Thank You to Dr. MacDonald, the nurses at Aberdeen Hospital and Eastern Shore Memorial Hospital for their compassion and care for Dad. And to friends and family for all the love and support. My father the late Duncan S. Crowell purchased the business on August 31, 1970 from the late Parker Hamilton. Dad named it Eastern Memorial Funeral Home until a few years later when he changed the name to DS Crowell Funeral Home.
