

Obituary of Harold Jamieson Boutilier

Boutilier, Harold Jamieson- 89, Popes Harbour died Monday July 7, 2025 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow. Born in Mushaboom August 19, 1935 he was a son of the late Clarence & Nora (Boutilier) Boutilier. In Harolds younger years he worked in the woods and fished with his father before moving to the city at the age of 18 finding work with Butler Brothers as a machine operator. He then worked at the Harbour Board as a Crane Operator, from there he was employed with Department of National Defence at jetty 4 as a Crane Operator until his retirement after 34 years in 2003. Harold was married 58 years to the love of his life Grace. He loved all animals, especially his cats. He enjoyed working in the woods on his private property, was an avid Montreal Canadians fan, enjoyed playing cards & crib and working with his tractor. Harold was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Survived by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his wife Grace (Snyder), sister Thelma Cox, brothers; Hubert, Almon, Godfrey, Daley, Daniel and Ronald. Visitation will be held Thursday July 24 from 2-4 and 7-9 with prayers at 7:30 all in DS Crowell & Son Funeral Home, 22558 Highway 7, Sheet Harbour. Funeral service will be held Friday July 25 at 2pm in St. Paul’s Anglican Church, Mushaboom Rev. Tricia Ingrim officiating. A private family burial will be held at a later date. My father the late Duncan S. Crowell purchased the business on August 31, 1970 from the late Parker Hamilton. Dad named it Eastern Memorial Funeral Home until a few years later when he changed the name to DS Crowell Funeral Home.
