

Obituary of Dougal Edward Turner

Turner, Dougal Edward- 91, Moser River died Monday July 7, 2025 in Harbourview Lodge, Sheet Harbour. Born in Moosehead June 21, 1934 he was a son of the late Evatt & Gladys (Moser) Turner. Dougal held many jobs over the years such as lighting the fires at the school, milking cows for people in the community, worked at Logans Mill in Caledonia, Robertsons Hardware Store in Halifax, the fish hatchery in Moser River and his last employment he was a foreman with Fishers and Oceans, receiving his 25-year pin. Dougal was dedicated to his family and was an avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, snowmobiling and always looked forward to going to Long Lake Camp. Dougal loved people and telling stories of days gone by. He had a love for all wildlife but dogs held a special place in his heart. Family was so important to him that he never missed a special date. Dougal was well known around the area for fixing lawn mowers, power saws and such for everyone. Survived by sister Ann (Bruce) Pearce, Necum Teuch, many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews and cousins. Predeceased by sisters; Evelyn Wright, Yvonne Meaney, Gwen Fleet, twin sisters in infancy, brother Ebbie Jr. Clayton, Alec and Rod. A graveside committal service will be held Monday July 14 at 2pm in Riverside Cemetery, Moser River. A Celebration of Life will follow in the Moser River Community Hall. Family flowers only, donations may be made to Hope for Wildlife.

My father the late Duncan S. Crowell purchased the business on August 31, 1970 from the late Parker Hamilton. Dad named it Eastern Memorial Funeral Home until a few years later when he changed the name to DS Crowell Funeral Home.
